"... As we are preparing for winter season, we must make ready our hearts to warm up to the joy of anticipation of the coming of Christ as the light for this world," Resident Bishop Marcus Matthews wrote in an Advent letter released today.
Bishop Matthews added that Advent is also a time for reflection, prayer and transformation. He encourages all Christians to prayerfully consider: taking 5 minutes every day to pray; taking one day each week during Advent to fast; and donating those funds saved by the fasting to your local church for missions and ministries.
As Christ is the light for this world, Bishop Matthews said we need to "Light up someone’s future. Thank someone for what they have done for you. Show God’s love."
