Buffalo, COS Extension School of Wesley Theological Seminary Regional United Methodist Course of Study Program

Welcome!

The Course of Study Extension School in Buffalo, NY, began in 2004 at the request of the Board of Ordained Ministry of the former Western New York Conference.  The new program was co-founded by Wendy Deichmann, an elder and theological educator in the Conference who servers as president of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH, and Cliff Cliver, a dedicated local pastor who was then serving as president of the Local Pastors Association of WNY Conference, with approval of the Board of Directors of the UM Course of Study Program seated in Nashville, TN. The School was developed to serve part-time Local Pastors in Upstate New York and the surrounding region who could not readily access more distant offerings in Washington DC, Ohio or elsewhere.

The staff and students are grateful to the office at the Wesley Course of Study Program in Washington, DC, for its assistance with registration services. We are grateful to the staff and faculty of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, for leadership and development of the program, and for educational, financial and technological resourcing.  Appreciation is also due to the Boards of Ordained Ministry of Upper New York and surrounding Conferences for their guidance and financial support for our local pastors and to the many churches, family members, and local communities that support this program by providing moral and financial support and prayers for student pastors serving in local congregations.

If you are a full-time or part-time local pastor looking for a regional, credentialed, hybrid/online UM Course of Study program that offers half of each class online and the remainder in only one weekend per course on campus, please check out http://www.united.edu/Course-of-Study-School-of-Ohio/Basic-Course-of-Study/menu-id-335.html. This program, offered by United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, serves both part-time and full-time local pastors from across the country.

Thank you for the privilege of serving you, and for your continued prayers and support as we together we serve the mission of The United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Dr. Wendy J. Deichmann, Director and Registrar
Rev. Gail Lewis, Local Coordinator
